Off Road Cycling Ulster

The Cycling Ulster Off-road Commission sent 8 riders to this year’s Inter-regional Mountain Bike Cross-country Championships. The event was held over the 10-11 September 2022 at Cannock Chase hosted by Hope Technology and Crank It Cycling in association with British Cycling.

The 2022 Inter Regional Championships Mountain Bike Cross-country Championships is being held on 10/11 September at Cannock Chase. This two day event sees teams from all over the UK competing across 5 different competitions to vie for the Championship title. Cycling Ulster is sending two teams, made up of two boys and two girls.

The Cycling Ulster Off-road Commission AGM will take place online on Monday 17 October 2022. More details to follow.

The Cycling Ulster Off-road Commission has set aside a bursary to support riders who are competing in cyclo-cross races outside of the island of Ireland.  The bursary is available to Ulster riders in the following age groups:  Under 14, Under 16, Junior or Under 23 (year of birth 2001-2010).  There are a limited number of bursaries of £150 per rider.

Expressions of interest are sought from Ulster riders (Boys & Girls) interested in being considered for selection for the UK Inter-Regional Mountain Bike Competitions which will take place on 10/11 September 2022 and will be run at Woodys Bike Park in Cornwall.

The Cycling Ulster Off-road Commission has set aside a bursary to support riders who are competing in off-road cycle races outside of the island of Ireland.  The bursary is open to riders competing in cross-country (XC), enduro, downhill (DH) and cyclo-cross (CX).  The bursary is available to Ulster riders in the following age groups:  Under 14, Under 16, Junior or Under 23 (year of birth 2000-2009).  There are a limited number of bursaries of £150 per rider with each discipline being offered the same number of bursaries.

The Cycling Ulster Off-road Commission organised an enduro / downhill training session at Tollymore Forest on Sunday 1 May 2022 with Glyn O’Brien with some of the top performing Ulster riders.

Glyn advised on race prep including nutrition, bike prep, mental approach, physical conditioning, line choice etc. Plenty of sectioning with some weird and wonderful suggestions, timed runs with a few spills but thankfully no injuries. The riders really appreciated the advice and are looking forward to the future help.
